If the exhibit had been smaller I don’t think I would’ve had the necessary time to reflect on whether or not I wanted to play with it. I had already passed a row of multicolour prisms, glistening in the afternoon sun on Sainte-Catherine, as the sun set to west and hung at about two o’clock in the sky from where I was standing. People were spinning them — slowly, not slowly. The prisms on the other side of the street were greyed by shadows. I assumed that the sun would have hit them from my back in the morning but who knows? Maybe they were installed wrong.
University isn't for independent students of Buddhadhamma brought out here without any meaningful choice in the matter, possibly dehumanized at 12. We exist purely to serve as consumers for the White producers of knowledge, art, music, culture, democracy, politics, jobs. We don't know anything, we don't know anyone. We're just here to make the "optics" of this genocide mountain range a little bit more "exotic" and thus diverse-seeming, multiculturalism oozing. You said some stuff about art, well, if there weren't all these grants or whatever then what would all the fair-skinned (or dark-skinned casteists) do with their degrees? Surely their privilege shouldn't go to waste. Surely you don't want people who re-humanize and (re)educate themselves to be doing much of anything other than hiding to avoid the trauma.
