I don't think supporting independent media is asking for a handout. Chris Hedges has a substack article out about how the death of media (its fall into the hands of the likes of Rupert Murdoch) is part of a fascistic oligarchic takeover.
And since much of msm is owned........or soon will be shut down (PP's promise for our CBC) choosing substack's like Nora's to actually support, not just opine on.......is a crucial part of good citizenship.
We can't support every substack out there.........choosing a Canadian woman to support just might say something progressive about us.
Handouts??? That's what we give in big chunks to the Fossil Fuel sector. It's called a subsidy.
