"As the OPP Association said in a press release about the case, “Our officers were doing their job according to their training.”" That is probably true and that explains it all. Despite the moto "Serve and Protect" it's apparent that is not what the training is about.

Exactly. Cops act as they were trained to, which is to shoot first and ask questions later. Shame on the prosecution for not moving forward with this case.

It is the old question again of "who polices the police". There are few places in the world where the police really are about keeping peace and serving the public. Police in Canada aren't as bad as some countries, but they were always set up to be outside anyone's control except the shadow government.

If the public wants police to be answerable, it is going to have to create an answerable police. Answerable to us. It is going to have to disarm and disband the present police forces which were always intended, from colonial times, as an occupation force. That means, shoot anyone who gets out of line.

The present powers are not going to just give up power and control, including "their" police. Like with most things in Canada, a new system has to be built. It has to be put in place. The old system must be dismantled.

Truly sickening that they're just going to get away with this.
