Excellent article in The Walrus! The rise in right wing militarism is frightening. Carney is headed in the wrong direction. He did not campaign on this agenda.
On "In Quebec City, Military Culture Collides with Far-Right Extremism"
I know Canadians are supposed to narrowly fixate on historical grievances between the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German and Russian empires. I believe the fact that there is a White National Assembly in Quebec City, and active movements to create more White Nations on this continent (not part of Europe) via additional Eurocentric separatist movements, is important to remember in this context.
This is not to excuse existing British North American governments (Canada and the separatists that formed the USA), but to recognize that various European/Eurocentric empires are not "victims" of each other when they operate outside of Europe.
The normalization of the Bloc and PQ as "not White Nationalist" (similar to desire of the Alberta Crown to become part of the USA and take treaty land with it) simply because they are loyalists to a different European/Eurocentric Empires than the British, and fixating on very narrow notions about what White Nationalism is, remains a massive barrier to ever maturing past the Western European settler-colonial ideologies from the 1600's.
A call to action for fellow French descendants in "North America"
Your Nunavut link should be called a Northwest Territories link. Inuvik is not in Nunavut. It is in the NWT.
I was at my sleepiest. Sorry for such an error.
