This past week, Quebec City police arrested a 26-year-old on terrorism charges. The guy is 26 years old and the RCMP said he is part of the 764 Network — this online group that targets young people to do terrible things online, and espouses far-right beliefs.
I immediately went to his Facebook page. No mutual friends and not active. But the last thing he posted, just 10 days after the shooting at the mosque in Quebec City, seems to be some kind of Islamophobic conspiracy theory thing, based on what you can still see of the content, and the page that he shared it from. If he’s 26 today, he would have been 17 years old at the time.
I wrote this feature for the Walrus asking what is it about this city that feeds the far right within it, and this new case hammers the point home again. How many more are there?

Excellent article in The Walrus! The rise in right wing militarism is frightening. Carney is headed in the wrong direction. He did not campaign on this agenda.
