Last night, the night parade of Quebec’s winter carnival walked through my neighbourhood. It’s a highlight of the winter and starts the four weeks between two parades that happen in my neighbourhood as we lurch towards spring. The second is St. Patrick’s — there were way fewer cops in this parade than there will be in the next one, though I do wonder if the Boston, Chicago and New York City police bands will be welcome here in a month.
Anyway, not a Canadian flag in sight. The newspaper may all say that Quebecers are tapping into newfound Canadian pride but I have yet to see any evidence of this at all. Perhaps this is a Montreal thing.
Anyway, here are the headlines that I featured on The Daily News podcast this past week.
