In compiling this week’s list, I was reminded of the silence from Canadian politicians over the fact that a Canadian citizen was shot and killed by the IDF near the border with Gaza. Nothing. No need to comment om the guy — the IDF said he was threatening them. His sins absolve the government’s need to say anything about it.
Except what it if was, what is most likely, a protest? What if he was just expressing what the vast majority of Canadians believe but was also close enough to Gaza to express himself on the other side of what sounds like is a modern concentration camp?
This week, I wrote about the earliest concentration camps — coordinated by Spain in Cuba, where some number (hundreds of thousands) of people were killed. The United States used these camps as the excuse to invade Cuba, starting their broader war with Spain in the last 1800s.
