The week’s news seemed to be dominated by military talk — from the US promising to buy Israel F-35s through military aid to Canada’s RCAF paying to do a search and rescue mission that was utterly futile, there seems to be no shortage of money for war these days. But if you’re a First Nations person in Alberta, your average life expectancy has dropped by 7 years, and the gap between non-First Nations people and First Nations people is 18.5 years. 18.5 years, thanks, in part, to toxic drugs that are destroying so many people’s lives.
