It feels like so long ago that Brian Mulroney died. But in the week that’s passed, we’ve heard about how he singlehandedly brought down Apartheid and stopped acid rain. What’s behind the whitewashing of this former Prime Minister? Well, for some, it’s nostalgia for a time where our political leaders had gravitas — brains that made you say “huh, he sounds smart” and brains that made them do epic levels of corruption. Are our politicians even smart enough for old-school corruption?
