Curiously, Warnica doesn’t mention Chartwell (more than 425 deaths), one of Canada’s largest owners/operators of long-term and retirement care facilities, despite its close ties with former Ontario Premier Mike Harris. Chartwell doesn’t show up on Ontario’s lobbyist registry under Chartwell. But HCN Canadian Investment-5 LP is listed, one of the real estate holding firms that owns Chartwell facilities. Their lobbyists, Jenni Byrne and Simon Jefferies, have held senior positions with Stephen Harper and Ford’s governments.
