If you are not interested in being solicited, I suggest you close this page right away. But, because it’s the holiday season and everyone is looking for the perfect gift, I would be remiss to not mention some of the projects that I’m involved in that could stand to receive a bit of dough.
So, if you’re still reading (thanks), I appreciate it. And if you’re still reading but you’re still going to close this right away, it’s all good. I appreciate that not everyone has spare change and I really, honestly, don’t expect that people fund my projects :)
Here are some gift ideas that, I dunno, might save you some hassle because they’ll be easy enough to give.
For the readers
Of course, I need to hock my books. The two latest are the easiest to get. You can buy them at any store, but they smell best when you buy them from your local independent bookstore. Or, you can get them directly from the publisher or wherever else you get your books.

For the socially-minded
This past year, I co-founded a group called the Nii’kinaaganaa Foundation. We ask settlers to donate money as a sign of paying your rent to live on this land. With the money, we’ve helped dozens of Indigenous-lead initiatives through small grants. You can read about the projects here, or make a donation:

For the podcast lover
Ok ok, this might be obvious. Sandy and Nora is hoping to ditch our advertising in 2023. As such, we do need people to pay if they are able. We’re hoping to increase the number of live shows that we do and we subsidize ticket costs through our donations. Considering gifting a donation to the Sandy and Nora fan in your life!

For the indy media consumer
For years, I looked for a place to call home for my column. I thought I had had that with the National Observer, only to be replaced by a died-in-the-wool liberal during the pandemic. But it wasn’t a total loss — I’ve been proud to write for Passage, an opinions site that publishes bold and unapologetic left-wing criticism. It’s such a pleasure writing for them and I hope that if you enjoy their content, you consider throwing them a few dollars or purchasing a subscription for someone.

To build a podcast movement
Leftwing podcast network Harbinger has been a godsend for leftwing podcasting. They not only give people support but they also bring together progressive podcasters. They’re great and if you’re looking for something to support, consider buying or gifting a membership.

You will hear from me before the holidays, and don’t worry, it won’t be soliciting you any further. And if you already donate to me, whether as a paid subscriber to my Substack, I genuinely can’t thank you enough.
Did you consider making a deck of playing cards featuring you and Sandy as illustrated superheroes and offering that up for USD99.99?
I hear it’s all the rage.
Or perhaps the Nora Loreta swear jar, where listeners pledge to contribute every time you cuss on a podcast?
Love your work. Have a great holiday.
